WELCOME TO THE

Holocaust Museum of Corfu

A Decimated Community

Between Self-Respect And Hopelessness

About 2,000 Jews lived in Corfu prior to World War 2. Most of them walked straight into the gas chambers when they arrived in Auschwitz. Only around 200 Jews were separated for work, but not all of them survived. After the war, survivors filled three small boats. One of them headed back to Corfu.

Remembering and learning about the Holocaust can help us understand the past, but it also raises awareness about different forms of antisemitism and hatred.
